Descent into the Ordinary

As Bengalis we pride ourselves on our history, culture and society.

But as the political events of the past year has shown we are slowly losing the essence of basic human dignity let alone decency.

We have a few landmarks:
1. Woman gets raped, the IPS officer who solved it is punished by Mamata Banerjee
2. MLA incites mass rape and violence, he is defented by Mamata Banerjee
3. Burdwan Blast exposes terrorist links, illegal madrasas are legalized by Mamata Banerjee
4. Madan Mitra gets arrests for finiancial fraud, protests disrupts the life of the comman man by Mamata Banerjee

It seems the entire TMC is getting STML (Short Term Memory Loss). The CBI probe into Sarada Scam is being conducted under the aegis of the Supreme Court and has been so before the BJP governement has been in power at the Center.

With the disruption of Parliament, disruptions in the state, we Bengalis have become a joke in front of the larger world.

We are no longer extraordinary, we have become the most ordinary who is unable to comprehend and function as a normal society is expected to.

We do not believe in rule of law.
We do not believe in truth.
We do not believe in decency and decorum.

All the mass energy can only be incited to destruction and devastation. In all the cacophony of Sarada scam, the essentials of the society is getting drowned out.

Where is the mass energy when it comes to stopping rape of Bengal's woman? Where is the mass energy when it comes to improving the work culture of Bengal? Where is the mass energy in improving lives in rural Bengal? Where is the mass energy in creating works of art?

We are still living of our past.

We have a disoriented present and a charred future.

Change is not longer just needed. It has become critical to the survival of the very essence of what being a Bengali means.

It is time sensible sane people stand up and be counted for change in the state. We can no longer let mob mentality Mamata Banerjee and her ilk rule the state as their fiefdom.

They do not define us as Bengal or Bengalis.

It is time to take back the ordinary and create the extraordinary!
