100 Days of Achche Din

100 days. It’s great news that Modi Sarakar will complete its 100 days on September 2, 2014 in power. We would like to congratulate our PM Shri Narendra Modi and his able and competent team of Ministers to successfully running the Government for last 100 days. Narendra Modi took charge as a Prime Minister of India on May 26, 2014. Let us see its success and failures, its promises and achievements.

At the time of swearing in ceremony Modi invited all SAARC countries heads, though opposition criticized it a lot. Modi had a foresight in doing so, in the process he could bring all SAARC heads closure to him and also it carried a hidden message that India is an undoubted leader amongst SAARC nations. After Narendra Modi was sworn in as Prime Minister of India, there were extensive news reports about how the sweeping victory of NDA in the 2014 general elections was more an astounding victory for the Modi.

Now let us come to the actions taken by this Government. We will mention here his most important decisions only.

* Panel created to locate the estimated Rs.50,000 crore ($8 billion) in 'black money' estimated to have been stashed away in tax havens abroad.

* UPA2 government’s 62 panels, called Groups of Ministers (GOMs) and Empowered there would be one decision-making Groups of Ministers (EGOMs), supposed to aid the decision-making process scrapped. Modiji stays at centre.

* Ministers asked to adopt austerity measures; among others, asked not to buy new cars. Ministers were also asked to get PMO approval for expenditure above Rs.1 lakh.

* The Planning Commission that existed for 50 years scrapped as it had not moved with the times and is likely to be replaced by a think tank.

* Prioritizing relations with Asian nations as a part of government's Look East policy, visiting Bhutan and Nepal, now Japan Aug 30-Sep 3. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yia's visit to India is seen as a positive development for bettering relations between the two countries.

* In a major pointer to government's firmness against graft in defence procurement, no further deals with Italian conglomerate Finmeccanica, whose Britain-based subsidiary AgustaWestland is enmeshed in the kickbacks relating to the purchase of VVIP helicopters.

* Gas price rise put on hold for three months, given that this is a sensitive issue and needs further discussion to address many important aspects before taking the final call.

* Juvenile Justice Act to be amended to enable Juvenile Justice Board decide whether juvenile above 16 years involved in heinous crimes such as rape be tried in a regular court.

* Creation of a National Food Grid to connect deficient areas with surplus producing regions to reduce wastage of fruit and vegetables and ensure stable prices. Government expects it to help contain price rise.

* Collegiums or internal system of making appointments to the higher judiciary scrapped in favor of a commission comprising the prime minister and the chief justice of India.

* “Ganga Safai Abhiyan” is now a project very close to PM’s heart which is whole heartedly supported by Uma
Bharati also.

* Cancelled Aug 25 foreign secretary-level talks with Pakistan after Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit invited Kashmiri separatists for talks is seen as the government's tough side.

* Ambitious financial inclusion scheme - Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana - launched with 15 million bank accounts opened and each of the holders provided Rs.100,000 insurance cover on the first day. First phase target of 75 million account holders advanced to Jan 26, 2015, from Aug 14 that year. This has proved to be a huge success. It is not just a Yojana but better to say movement in Banking Sector

* After launching schemes to boost financial inclusion and reduce digital divide, the government is all set to begin work on developing rural infrastructure in the country in a bid to spur growth and perk up investments.

100 days are too short for any Government to bring in miraculous changes. But Modi at least proved one thing that undoubtedly he has the capability to lead and to make his Team work. In his Independence day speech he took many important social issues like he addressed parents Don’t question daughters, correct your sons first. He became the first PM to address the Nation from Red Fort without a written script. Many schemes of Modi are yet to be launched like

‘Vanche Bharat’. To be steered by the human resource development ministry, the mega ‘Vanche Bharat’ project will aim at unleashing a book popularizing and reading movement across the country and to inculcate the reading habit in about 400 million school and college students besides reviving dying libraries. With its affiliates publicly opposing key policy decisions of the government, the RSS brass has reined them in with a clear message that it is in no mood to create obstacles for the Modi regime in its very first year in power.

He also pointed on corruption when he said “Mera Kya” and “Mujhe Kya”. His message to all was “Na Khaunga Na Khane Doonga” was clearly a message to all those who are involved in corruption. In his first Independence Day speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled his roadmap for a bold, new India — listing out key welfare schemes along with ‘small ideas’ that could make a big difference.

Japan could become a cornerstone of Modi's foreign policy. There is a clear affinity between Modi and Japanese PM Shinzo Abe, but the two sides are also growing closer due to increasing unease over China’s unapologetic desire to dominate the region. There’s no denying that Japanese PM Shinzo Abe genuinely appears to like Modi, and the feeling is visibly mutual. But that can only go so far in furthering ties between two robust democracies. Converting Varanasi in to a “Smart City”, introducing Bullet Train between Mumbai – Ahmadabad are in Modi’s agenda while signing deals with Japan.

Now, coming to Modi’s shortcomings are Narendra Modi’s visit to Japan will be the most important of a succession of Asian great power meetings. Played correctly, India could be a major beneficiary. A wrong step and the results could be disastrous. Breaking his silence on cancellation of talks, PM Narendra Modi said India was 'disappointed' as Pakistan wanted to make a 'spectacle' by meeting separatist leaders but said efforts will continue to build ties with Islamabad. On the government’s decision to increase the cap on Foreign Direct Investment in insurance, defence and railways also, the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, the BJP's labour union, has raised red flags. In fact, in the early days of the Modi government the Swadeshi Jagra Manch even cautioned against business with China. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiative to reach out to every student through TV, radio and the internet on Teachers day has failed to enthuse private schools of Delhi which feel that "forcing" them to make arrangements for it will dampen the celebration of the occasion. Further there are some disputed Ministers in his cabinet and opposition is all the time criticizing Modi on that issue.

Modi has a huge following which is not yet happy fully as the government hasn’t done much on inflation and price rise. It also hasn’t taken up harsh step against all those who were involved in scams and corruption in earlier government.
In nut shell MODI SARKAR has done its best what was possible in a very small period of 100 days and we all expect this government to handle all the matters strongly and come out with schemes for poor masses for further development.
