Open Letter to Ma'm Chief Minister

Dear Ma'm Chief Minister?

It has been three years since you have been in power and have another two years to go for the completion of your elected tenure.

We, the citizens, are gravely unhappy with the performance of your government. Though there are many issues that confront us, today we take up a few of them.

Though you have claimed that the GSDP is growing at 7.6% and aim for 10%, 99 companies have closed down in the same period. We are unable to understand the discrepancy in the data. We should be getting more jobs but we find our selves and our neighbours increasingly without jobs. We also see these horrific pictures of starvation deaths in the tea gardens of North Bengal. The images are such that we are reminded of images from the holocaust!

Even if we had jobs, getting to office would be a huge challenge. After all, public transport buses have all but left the roads. Militant shuttles rule the roost. There is always a life risk in the way they drive on the roads.

If I die I wouldn't be able to leave much to my family and two small children. They are anyways struggling to compete with students of other states. The standard of education is ever declining in our state. I am worried how will be manage themselves in this condition when they grow up. If they too have to move out of the state for education and jobs, my wife and I will be left helpless in our old age.

With healthcare so expensive, I am worried how we will manage going to Chennai or Vellore all the time for medical needs. Though the trident lights look good but they are being stolen in our area at an alarming rate. The culprits are never apprehended. May be some of these funds can be diverted to improve healthcare. You are older and wiser than us and we leave the decision to you.

I know you are concerned about Muslims in Bengal but we are also concerned about the money you are spending on them. It hurts to know that Hindus are languishing while the state funding madrasas to create dormant Jihadi sleeper cells in the state. The spread of militant Wahabi Islam in rural Bengal is very disturbing indeed.  It seems that we are literally buying peace from the Muslims. We give money to the Muslims and they do not have bomb blasts in Bengal.

The violence in West Bengal keeps me awake at nights. My daughter goes to school alone. My wife uses shuttle in the night to come home. I can only pray to God to protect them. After all the police, MPs and MLAs encourage and/or aid and abet rapists. The police helpline is as good as a  non existent one. One can never get through for timely help.

I wish you would take up these concerns for immediate redressal.

More in our next letter.

Thanking you,
Sincerely,

Concerned Citizen
