And the world stood silent...

"My forehead was covered in cold sweat. Still I told her that I could not believe that human beings could behave this way in our times; the world would certainly never tolerate such crimes...", said the daughter.

"The world? The world is not interested in us. Today, every thing is possible, even crusades of rape and slaughter..." Her voice broke. Her voice echoes in the voice of every mother.

The authorities know and remains silent.

One day a cartoonist in 21st century West Bengal dared to create a caricature of the Chief Minister and he was jailed.

Today a Member of Parliament threatened rape and slaughter to resounding applause! What happens?

Silence.

If we forget, we are guilty, we are accomplices.

When men and women are persecuted because of their race, religion, sex or political views, that place - at that moment - should become the centre of the universe. We must take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. We must interfere.

When human lives are endangered, when human dignity is in jeopardy, national borders and sensitivities become irrelevant.

  3. Signs and signals of all-round destruction and devastation of WB seems to be crystal clear. 34 years plus 5 years. Too Much. 39 years of 67 years since independence ( 58%), Bengal was devoid of progress, development, industries, ... . Generation got wiped out during Naxal days. Followed by Sickular days - which still continues. Don't know how many decades it will take to re-built Bengal.

  4. Most people will be followers. What is needed is a Face to lead the Party till 2016 Elections and thereafter. Nothing can be achieved in the absence of a strong, honest and dedicated leader at the state level.

  5. No word is enough to condemn the prevailing situation in West Bengal. I find no word to express my anguish and shame at the inept governance of TMC in this state. People expected good governance after 35 years of Left rule but what we got is even worse than that. They put Bengal in the docks. When we will see a better day?
