The above picture is the road to Dak Bungalow More in Rajahat. This is just 7 kms from Chinar Park. This connects to the main road linking Airport to Salt Lake Sector V. The NHAI had earlier handed over the responsibility of maintaining a 16-km stretch between Kolkata airport and Dak Bungalow More in Barasat to the state government in 2012, but it couldn't be repaired due to 'slow funds release from Delhi' claimed the Mamata Banerjee government.
Mamata Banerjee and TMC are a frequent visitors in Rajarhat because of the muslim vote bank in the area. The roads in the villages are better off than the main arterial road connecting the area. The repairs have been non existent. They best repairs are done by back bricks which barely last a week under heavy traffic.
Rajarhat has been the calling card of successive governments in Bengal but this is the inside look at the condition of the most basic of infrastructure - roads.
This is the one off example of a road we have described here. Be it Kolkata or it interior districts.be it Corporation area or panchayat condition Road is same every where,broken,full of holes. Not a single kilometer Road is bieng built. Patch up work done in some places with poor material,washed away in days keeping Road in same state. Be it Kunjanagar of Falakata or be Matla at Canning bridhes are not monitored or repaired struggling in Poor state. You have seen a truckful of stonechips was travelling on Burdwan bridge.Bridge went down when the truck middle of the bridge couple of days back. God is very kind that both driver & helper is safe.
Mamata Banerjee has been stressing on roads and infrastructure in her bid to attract investment for the state. The state has prepared list of road widening and repair projects that would need the Centre to disburse around Rs 1,200 crore immediately. We would request her to look after her own Roads,so that Industry can come.
Only recently, the chief minister has blamed the Centre for "failing to repair" national highways, saying roads should be handed over to the state if the NHAI couldn't mend them. NHAI, on the other hand, has been saying that land acquisition and Mamata's hands-off policy have been coming in the way of repairs.
Mission of NDA is always in infrastructure. Infrastructure means business. That is why NDA connected with highways entire country in first term. This time also they are emphasizing with highways & water transport.
Keeping aside political differences Government already declared water ways from Haldia to Varanasi. Yesterday he has cleared the deep sea investments of 12000 crores in setting up Sagar Port which will have 60 million metric ton cargo handling capacity
Besides, Gadkari has also assured Rs 6,000 crore contracts for seven new road projects of 294 km in state, would be awarded in the next two months. So what Mamata can't do in 4 years of power,Gadkari showed in his first visit as Minister what a minister can do If he has intention to serve the country. Will TMC learn anything from that?
