Goons of Konnagar: Unleashed

A large Police contingent came and rescued the district leadership of BJP from Jorapukur area of Konnagar. The leadership by this time was informed that Anil Roy has been hospitalised. They hired two auto rickshaws and went to Uttarpara State General Hospital, where Anil Roy was admitted. To utter surprise they found the frenzy mob of 200, which disrupted the street corner meeting, was standing at Uttarpara State General Hospital. This group of 200 had some known new faces, amongst them were Mr UttamChakraborty, President INTTUC, Hindmotor Employees’ Union and Mrs Rita Pashi, TMC councillor of No 4 ward of KonnagarMunicipailty, she has another identity, she is elder sister of Chikua, an renowned anti-social and close aide of Ramesh Mahato who controls the underworld of the geographical area – Rishra at north to Bally at south and Dankuni at west and River Ganges at east. In our earlier write-up we suspected the entire episode was planned and well executed by TMC, now the suspicion got confirmed that it was TMC activity.

Second phase of the incident commenced from Uttarpara State General Hospital. Krishna Bhattacharjee, BJP Hooghly District SabhaNetri, a lady in sixties, fell unwell in the entire episode. After seeing Anil Roy in hospital she met the on duty Medical Officer for her check-up. The drama by those goons started. They started saying, “Why Krishna di is consulting a doctor? She was not beaten up then she must be pregnant!” Just think, these TMC guys talks about rich culture of West Bengal and plays RabindraSangeet and NazrulGeeti at street crossings but in reality they talk such nonsense about a lady in her sixties! RabindraSangeet and NazulGeeti is mask and “pechoneybaansh” is their original identity. Other comments which were passed by those goons can’t be mentioned here.

It is worth mentioning that BJP workers from Rishra, Hindmotor andUttarpara rushed to Uttarpara State General Hospital when they came to know that Krishna Di went there to see Anil Roy. BJP karyakartas of Uttarpara couldn’t recognise any TMC worker from Uttarpara in that group of 200. They were all from Konnagarand Hindmotorarea and UttamChakraborty was leading them. Police arrived at Uttarpara State General Hospital and asked BJP leaders and karyakartas to leave the hospital. All came out of the hospital. While BJP karakartas were coming out of hospital, those goons caught the last person and started beating him mercilessly. Mr Laxman Das, Treasurer BJP UttarparaMondal was the person beaten up. When people saw Laxman Das being beaten up TarakMondal a BJP karyakarta of UttarparaMondal rushed to rescue him. Tarak was also badly beaten up but was able to rescue Laxman Das.LaxmanDas’ cycle was stolen in the mean time.

The entire BJP team escortedSubir Nag and PrabirPakhira to Uttarpara Railway Station, from where they left for their home by the last local train. Krishna Di along with others from UttarparaMondal decided to lodge FIR at Uttarpara Police Station. It was planned that one auto rickshaw will go first to Uttarpara PS and Krishna Di will reach there by another auto later. If one has to go to Uttarpara PS from Uttarpara station, he needs to go via Uttarpara State General Hospital. When the crowd which stood in front of Uttarpara State General Hospital saw that BJP people going towards Uttarpara PS they started chasing the auto! According to Jaswant Singh, BJM, President KonnagarMondal, “50 people were running after our auto.” Jaswant briefed the situation over phone to Krishna Di. Auto speeded and somehow escaped from the following crowd. Later on Krishna Di called up Jaswant and told him not to go to Uttarpara PS as those goons will be definitely reaching there.

Next day FIR was lodged and Uttarparathana was “gheraoed” on the same day, 29^th Dec 2014 at 11 am. Swapan Paul, Vice President, State BJP along with District, Block, Mondal and Anchal leaders was present in the gherao program. BJP karakartas from entire nearby localities like Hindmotor, Uttarpara, Konnagar, Chapdani, Dankuni&Rishra participated in the program. Different Police Stations in the district were “gheraoed” by BJP karyakartas from that locality.

TMC organised a procession from Jorapukur area on 29^th Dec 2014 afternoon in protest against the BJP activity in their locality and highlighted that TMC guy was beaten up by BJP people previous night. Remember the guy who pushed Anil Roy and himself fell down and ambulance arrived within 5 minutes. He was a TMC guy. In anger they went to Krishna Bhattacharjee’s house and started using abusive language and pelting stone at her house. Luckily, Krishna Di was not present at her house at that time. Her eighty year old mother had to undergo such situation.

Konnagar BJP went to Uttarpara PS to seek permission to stage a protest rally on 30^th December 2014, which Police didn’t permit. Later Mr SamikBhattacharjee, BJP MLA fromBasirhat met Krishna di at her Konnagar Residence.

This is the first incident in West Bengal that a BJP District President’s house was attacked by TMC. We will keep it in our mind as it will be very hard for us to forget it.
