Guns, Goons and Government

Violence is not the exception but the norm in West Bengal. These are a few of the comments to ponder upon:

“…Shajano Golpo (concocted story)…”
 - Mamata Banerjee (Chief Minister of West Bengal, TMC) on the Park Street rape case

“…burn down the houses of independent candidates and bomb police if they dared interfere…”
  - Arubrata Mondol (Birbhum Trinamool President, TMC)

"…If anyone forces into your hut, kill him. I will take care of you…"
 - Arup Chakrabarty (Bankura Trinamool Leader, TMC)

“…Will send my boys to rape opposition party women…”
 - Tapas Pal (Member of Parliament, TMC)

“…lynch anti-social elements to death…”
 - Asit Majumdar (Member of Legislative Assembly, TMC)

Elie Weisel said, “…To remain silent is the greatest sin of all…we must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented...”

Isn’t it time that we all spoke up in a strong and unified voice?

How much and how much longer shall this culture of violence continue?

  1. Excellent Headline and Article. Guns, Goons and Governance. 3G. One 2G robed the Nation of Rs. 1.76 Lakh Crore. But harm done by GUNS,GOONS & (MIS) GOVERNANCE is far too more.
